About the Book
This book is a photographic collection of the remarkable biodiversity documented by Anurag Goel at their family farm, Mojo Plantation in Coorg, Karnataka. Opening with the ecology of the Western Ghats, Anurag has created a window into the native flora and fauna, portraying rainforest trees, the Sholai grasslands, orchid diversity, amphibians, birds, insects, herps, and mammals co-existing in their forest farm. This book is evidence that any farm land, if cultivated through ecologically sustainable practices, can harbour an exquisite range of rare and endemic species. The book is an inspiration for people from different generations and backgrounds to come together, creating a relationship with the natural world which enables them to protect it for the future.
About the Author: Anurag Goel is a Ph.D in Molecular Biology from Toronto University who left the Laboratory to make a life on a small piece of forested land in the Western Ghats. This region is home to some of the richest biodiversity in the world, which is rapidly vanishing. He believes in drawing attention to the ‘small’ biodiversity – plants, fungi, insects, amphibians, reptiles and birds, that support our existence.
